There are lots of birth control methods, too many to be listed, but not all of them are as effective as other. Breastfeeding, abstinence and outercourse are types of birth control that not everyone knows about.
Breastfeeding:
Breastfeeding is a great birth control method, since when you breastfeed (every 4 or 6 hours), your body stops ovulating. When you’re not ovulating, you will not have your period, and this means not getting pregnant. This process is called “lactational amenorrhea method”. Its is 98% effective, and it doesn’t cost any money. Breastfeeding only works in the first 6 months after having a baby, and it does not protect you from STDs. It also isn’t the best option if you breastfeed and give formula to the baby. You have to be consistent with it for it to be effective.
Abstinence:
Abstinence is when you have no kind of sexual activity. People use abstinence as a type of birth control. It prevents pregnancy because it keeps semen away from the vagina. If you are 100% abstinent, you will not get pregnant. All people can be abstinent, no matter their age. This method is 100% effective and protects you from STDs. It also costs nothing. Not many people remain abstinent because they do not like to wait.
Outercourse:
Outercourse is when you don’t have vaginal sex, but you do have other types of it. For example, oral sex, and anal sex. This prevents pregnancy, since if you don’t have vaginal sex nothing will happen, so no pregnancy. For this method you don’t have to buy anything. It doesn’t have long or short term effects.
These methods are effective, but I recommend teenagers to use abstinence or outercourse, since you can prevent pregnancy with these methods. Breastfeeding does not apply a lot for teenagers, since most of the girl teens do not have a child to breastfeed. I encourage you to wait to have sexual relationships until you are convinced to have a child. If you do not agree with this, you should follow other birth control methods, and make sure they are helpful.
